Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets

Time to talk about the lip launch that everyone has been talking about in 2014. The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets have taken the beauty blogging world by storm. So why have they been such a hit?

These little beauties claim to be super light weight, velvety in texture, hyperpigmented and last 24 hours. Those are some bold claims, eh? Well I'm here to tell you that in my opinion they do just that! The shades I have are Hot Pepper and Pink Pong, although they seem to be the most hyped of the range, there are some other shades I have my eye on and I'm hoping they bring out even more.

It's a good idea to apply some form of lip balm a few minutes before so it can sink in and give you fully hydrated lips. I did find that I got what I can only describe as little 'flakey bits' gather on my lips when I first applied it. However, this was easily rectified by using the wand to push them off my lips and then use some tissue to wipe them off the applicator. After that (which I must say has only happened once) I had super bright, matte lips. And unlike most other matte lip products I have, my lips did not dry out at all, even after reapplication.

The staying power of these is absolutely awesome. I ate lunch, had drinks and the colour barely faded and did not smudge one bit. Throughout the whole day I only topped up once and that was because I wanted really bold lips, the colour was still looking good without it.

Overall I am so impressed with these little gems. They retail for £8.99, which is well worth it in my opinion as they rival some of the most high end lip items I own!

  1. This looks like such a fantastic lip product! I'm not sure where I can find these in the US, but I have a long list of Bourjois products I want to buy!
